Scott's Experience

Since joining Honor Credit Union Scott has worked with his team to leverage the unique cooperative relationship with CU*Answers. Honor CU has a long and rich history with the CUSO and Scott believes that the key to future success is in collaboration and constant curiosity on how things can be done better. Scott has set a course at Honor CU to remain and grow as a strong financial alternative in the markets we serve, and the team is constantly looking at ways to bring the services of Honor CU to other markets. Scott's team has worked to strategically expand the footprint of Honor Credit Union to serve each member individually and serve more members. This is reflected in what has been accomplished below:

- Rebrand and charter expansion

- Merger with Otsego Paperworkers’ Credit Union

- Alliance with Allegus Credit Union in Kalamazoo

- Strategic Purchase of a bank branch, its customers and assets to strengthen market presence

- Alliance with SIR Federal Credit Union

- Acquiring a secondary market ticket for FNMA

- Rebrand and expansion of the student credit unions for Honor

- Launch of Powered By Honor, a 501c3 Foundation to serve the communities

- Launch of Honor Financial Group – the investment division for Honor

In addition, Scott and his team have been able to grow organically through a full range of great products from youth accounts to commercial accounts. This growth has not come at the expense of financial strength. Scott and the Board at Honor are committed to insuring a strong credit union for the members and the communities it serves. Scott has already seen the benefits of working with a company that is a partner first and a data processor second.
In 2010 Scott lead the team through the monumental task of a name change and rebranding. With a cooperative team effort between the Board, employees and members, the credit union changed the name from Berrien Teachers Credit Union to Honor Credit Union. This was derived from the original core group of teachers and educators and reflects how the credit union has taken care of its members and the surrounding communities. Honor Credit Union recently expanded its charter to serve 12 counties on Michigan’s west side.

“I have been truly blessed to have the opportunity to work for a great organization and a great team at Honor CU. I never take for granted the value of teamwork and the support that we get from our Board. This support, coupled with a strong team, great members and welcoming communities truly defines the Honor Way. ”
